“And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.”
Where It Comes From in the Bible: From 1 Kings 11:3 in the account of King Solomon, paired with Proverbs 4:23 ('Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life'). Though Solomon was gifted with unmatched wisdom, his unguarded heart became his blind spot, a sobering reminder that wisdom without a guarded heart still falls.
Wisdom Had A Blind Spot. Classical woodcut engraving of King Solomon in crimson and gold robes seated on a stepped temple dais beside a carved winged-lion altar and unrolled scrolls, framed by twin antique-gold pillars crowned with NaskiCo sheep capitals and the gold halo-sheep medallion above. Back caption: "Marry 700 wives," they said. "It'll be fun," they said. King Solomon (1 Kings 11:3). Top-centred NaskiCo gym sheep mascot below the collar, full-size washed and cracked artwork across the back.
"And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart." (1 Kings 11:3, KJV).
