A Bible verse shirt is one of the shortest sermons there is: a few words, read in passing, by people you'll never meet. That's a good reason to choose the verse carefully. Here are ten verses we've put on NaskiCo pieces, what each one meant in its original setting, and how it reads on a shirt today. Quotations are from the King James Version.
1. Joshua 1:9, courage for a new assignment
"Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."
God says this to Joshua just after Moses has died, with a river to cross and a land to enter. The courage isn't self-belief. It rests on the last clause: God goes with him. Worn on a shirt, it's a reminder that courage and fear can sit together. Be Strong And Courageous tee.
2. Romans 8:31, the question that ends the argument
"What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?"
Paul asks this after laying out the whole gospel in Romans 1 to 8. "These things" means being called, justified and glorified. It doesn't promise that nobody will oppose you. It says no opposition can undo what God has done. If God Is For Us tee.
3. Psalm 23:1, the shepherd's sufficiency
"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want."
David had been a shepherd, so he knew how completely sheep depend on one. "I shall not want" doesn't mean you'll get everything you want. It means you won't lack what the Shepherd knows you need. The Lord Is My Shepherd tee.
4. Exodus 14:14, when the fight isn't yours
"The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace."
Moses says this with Pharaoh's army behind Israel and the sea in front of them. The command is to be still, which is often harder than fighting. Our design puts it in modern words, My God Don't Play About Me. See the tee.
5. Revelation 5:12, worship at the centre of everything
"Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing."
In John's vision, heaven sings this to the Lamb who was slain, Jesus, when He alone is found worthy to open the scroll. It's a reminder that the One at the centre of history was wounded for us. Worthy tee and hoodie.
6. Daniel 7:9, the Ancient of Days
"I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool."
Daniel sees this vision while empires rise and fall like beasts from the sea. In the end, it's God who sits enthroned and judges. It's a calm verse for anxious times. Ancient Of Days tee, or read our longer note on Daniel 7:9.
7. Galatians 2:20, a new life, not a better one
"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me."
Paul is arguing that we are made right with God by faith, not by keeping rules. The old self isn't improved. It has died, and a new life has started. Crucified With Christ tee.
8. Hebrews 12:1, running with endurance
"...let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us."
This comes straight after the "hall of faith" in Hebrews 11. The "great cloud of witnesses" are people who finished their race. Notice the word is patience, not speed. Run My Race tee.
9. 1 Timothy 6:12, the good fight
"Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life..."
Paul writes this to a young pastor, warning him off the love of money. The fight is against what pulls us away from God, not against other people. Fight The Good Fight tee.
10. Hebrews 12:29, a consuming fire
"For our God is a consuming fire."
Quoting Deuteronomy 4:24, Hebrews ends a passage on the unshakeable kingdom with this line. It's a holy kind of fear: God isn't tame, and that is good news for anyone who needs something solid. Consuming Fire tee.
Choosing your verse
- Read the whole chapter around the line. If you can explain the context in one sentence, you're ready to wear it.
- Pick a season. Joshua 1:9 for a new job, Psalm 23 for grief, Hebrews 12:1 for a long recovery.
- Think about who will read it. A back print is for strangers; a chest print or a cap is closer to a personal reminder.
