What Does Daniel 7:9 Mean? The Ancient of Days, Explained

August 2026 · The NaskiCo Journal · Sydney

Daniel 7:9 gives us one of the most staggering pictures of God in all of Scripture: "the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was white as snow; the hair of his head white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire."

Who is the Ancient of Days? The title points to God's eternity. He was seated before anything was made and reigns long after the mountains wear down. White hair here is not age or weakness but purity, wisdom, and a holiness never once compromised.

Why the fire? The throne of flame is judgement and glory together. Nothing false survives His presence, yet the same fire warms the one who belongs to Him.

Kingdoms rise and fall and still the Ancient of Days has not moved from His throne. That is the weight we carried in the Ancient of Days drop: the One on the throne of fire is the same yesterday, today and forever.
